Why does my business need a Fixed Term Employment Agreement?

If your business engages employees for a specific task or time period, your employees may be classified as fixed-term employees.

Under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), if an employee is under a contract for a specific time period or task (e.g. a 6-month contract after which the employment will end). Usually, these fixed-term employees will work full-time or part-time hours and are generally entitled to the same wages, penalties and leave as permanent employees.

When engaging fixed-term employees, the key considerations to include in your employment agreement are the National Employment Standards for employees. The National Employment Standards lists the minimum standards and entitlements of employee engagements such as being able to take sick leave. This is included in the Fair Work Information Statement to be provided to all employees.

The Business Kitz Fixed Term Employment Agreement has been drafted to include all recent Fair Work amendments. Business Kitz has a Fair Work compliance team to monitor Fair Work legislation changes to ensure that our employment agreements remain up to date.
